Smashing the previous record set by ambitious feature-length animation Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within ($130 million), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the most expensive videogame-inspired film ever made, costing an estimated $200 million according to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb.com). The fantasy adventure, released in 2010, starred Jake Gyllenhaal as a gallant prince, out to protect the world from a magical dagger that can reverse time.
