Skuas constitute a family of gull-related seabirds with no natural predators, which feed upon small mammals and fishes and often steal fishes from gulls and other birds, attacking them in flight. The largest species is the brown skua (Stercorarius antarctica), which is 60 cm long, broad-winged, and heavy-bodied. It breeds in the Antarctic and sub-Antarctic zones.
