The heaviest deadlift in 24 hours is 580,220 kg (1,279,166 lb), achieved by Nick Riding (UK), in Reading, Berkshire, UK, on 23-24 September 2022.

Nick's friend set up a charity called the 'Charlie Watkins Foundation' after his twin brother sadly committed suicide in 2017. I would like to attempt to break this record to raise fund for that charity who do amazing work to help those struggling with their mental health. I have always been an athlete, having competed in rugby union, achieved a black belt in Japanese Ju-jitsu, and trained full-time on the GB Start rowing programme in Leeds. Since I stepped down as an athlete, I have felt slightly lost with training. However, the idea of breaking a world record excites me just like training as a full-time athlete did. I am already 7 weeks into training and it is progressing nicely. I am very much looking forward to the challenge and hope that it helps raise some awareness and funds for those struggling with mental health.
