First post on X (formerly Twitter)

Twitter was invented by Jack Dorsey (USA) in 2006 as a microblogging and social networking tool. Users can post text messages, called tweets, of up to 140 characters which are sent to their subscribers or followers. The very first tweet was posted by Dorsey at 9:50 pm PST on 21 March 2006, and read "just setting up my twittr".
