Farthest discus throw (female)

The farthest discus throw by a female is 76.80 metres (251 feet 11 inches), achieved by Gabriele Reinsch (East Germany) on 9 July 1988 in Neubrandenburg, Germany.

Reisnch’s throw is more than two metres farther than the male discus world record – at present, the only track and field world record in which the women’s mark exceeds the men’s. No woman has thrown within 5 metres of Reinsch’s mark in the 21^st century.
