The individual who is credited with the creation of the greatest number of different fighting videogames is Seichi Ishii (Japan) who has worked on seven games in the genre as of November 2010. Featured in Guinness World Records Gamers Edition 2011

Ishii was lead designer on Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Tekken 2, Tobal No1. Tobal 2, Ehrgeiz and the wonderfully-titled Kakuto Chojin: Back Alley Brutal.
