Vaibhav Suryavanshi (India, b. 27 March 2011) was just 14 years 32 days old when he blasted a 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Jaipur, Rajasthan, on 28 April 2025. Remarkably, Suryavanshi was more than five-and-a-half younger than compatriot Manish Pandey (19 years 253 days), whose record for the youngest batter to reach three figures in the IPL had stood since 21 May 2009.
Suryavanshi hit 94 of his 101 runs in boundaries (11 sixes and seven fours) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in making the second-fastest hundred in IPL history, after Chris Gayle’s 30-ball blitz for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013.
Suryavanshi, a left-hander playing in just his third IPL match, made his tournament debut nine days previously against Lucknow Super Giants, when he creamed his first ball for a “flat-batted six” off Shardul Thakur.
“Why hit a single when you can hit the ball for a six?” – a quote attributed to Suryavanshi in his early days as a professional cricketer.
Suryavanshi plays for the eastern Indian state of Bihar in domestic cricket.
