On 5 July 2001, six diners at Petrus, London, UK spent £44,007 ($61,941) on one meal. The bill consisted mainly of five bottles of wine as, once the bill had been added up, the £300 ($422) charge for food was taken off. The most expensive bottle was a 1947 Chateau Petrus vintage claret worth £12,300 ($17,312), followed by the slightly cheaper 1945 Chateau Petrus at £11,600 ($16,327). A 1946 Chateau Petrus cost £9,400 ($13,230) apparently due to this being a poor year. A 1900 Chateau d'Yquem dessert wine cost £9,200 ($12,949) and 1982 bottle of Montrachet was a snip at £1,400 ($1,970). The remaining £107 ($150) consisted of water, a fruit juice, cigarettes and six glasses of champagne. Although the diners initially remained anonymous, a jornalist from www.rediff.com reported that all six employees are said to be employees of Barclays Capital, the investment banking division at Barclays Bank.  The names of four members of the party have been given as Iftikhar Hyder, Mahish Chandra, Dayananda Kumar and Ruth Cove.  Hyder is said to have paid £11,500 for his share, Cove £8,500. Chandra and Kumar £12,000 and £9,000.  The remaining £3,000 of the settlement is said to have been paid by the other two members of the party, together with a generous four figure tip.  The remaining two diners are yet to be identified.
