Most expensive comic

The most expensive comic is a copy of Action Comics #1 (DC Comics, 1938) which was purchased for $15,000,000 (£11.15m) in a private sale brokered by Metropolis Collectibles/Comic Connect, on 9 January 2026.

Action Comics #1 is the debut of iconic character Superman.

Fewer than 100 copies are thought to exist and this particular copy had a 9/10 grading. It was once owned by actor Nicolas Cage, who purchased the copy back in 1996 for $150,000. It was stolen from his home in 2000 and found 11 years later, before he sold it on for $2.20m.
