The longest world title fight (under Queensberry Rules) lasted 2 hr 6 min and was between the lightweights Joe Gans (USA) and Oscar Mattheus `Battling' Nelson (Denmark), the `Durable Dane', at Goldfield, Nevada, USA on 3 Sep 1906. It was terminated in the 42nd round when Gans was declared the winner on a foul. Under Queensbury Rules each round lasts 3 minutes with a break of 1 minute in between each round.
