Most magazine covers for a videogame character

Since making her videogame debut in 1996, Tomb Raider's intrepid adventuress Lara Croft (UK) has been a prominent visual presence on at least 1,230 magazine covers, as of September 2016. Although the vast bulk of covers are for gaming magazines from around the world, the total also includes film mags (for her movie spin-offs), culture and lifestyle titles such as Melody Maker and Yahoo! Internet Life, independent comic-books, and the iconic US humour publications Mad and Cracked. If all of Lara's visual cover mentions are added up (covers in which she appears without being a main star), her total appearances amount to almost 1,400. The covers include portrayals of Lara through official videogame artwork, in parodist cartoons and from real-life photo-shoots with official Lara Croft models and actresses.

Lara Croft is the star of the Tomb Raider series that was first created and developed by the British studio Core Design. The main series titles are now developed by the US studio Crystal Dynamics, which is owned by the series' publisher Square Enix.
