The oldest female Olympic gold medallist is Sybil "Queenie" Newall (UK, b. 17 October 1854), who won a gold medal in the Double National Round discipline in the archery event aged 53 years 275 days at the 1908 Olympic Games at White City, London, UK, on 18 July 1908. Queenie Newall beat off the competition from an all-British field and was subsequently national champion in 1911, 1912 and 1914. She was the last female British archer to win an Olympic medal until Alison Williamson won bronze in 2004.
