The fastest robot to solve a 4x4x4 puzzle cube is 45.30 sec, and was achieved by Matthew Pidden and Thomas Pidden (both UK) in Bristol, UK, on 12 May 2025.
Matthew wanted to break this record as part of his undergraduate final project. This attempt combined his passions of both computer science and rotating puzzles. He programmed the computer national solver, the robot, and the camera recognition software, while his brother Thomas designed a large amount of the 3D parts.
