As of 5 September 2016, Ellen DeGeneres (USA, @TheEllenShow) was the most popular TV personality on Twitter, with 61,848,366 followers.

This made DeGeneres the seventh most followed person overall as of the same date. The presenter and actor can also lay claim to having set the record for most retweeted message, a selfie taken at the 2014 Oscars, packed with A-list movie stars, which went viral on Twitter.
